General Dental Solutions
Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA
In an ideal situation, dentistry is preventative. Visits for checkups and cleanings should take place once every six months to maintain proper oral health. During these visits potential problems can be spotted, and additional visits to correct these issues can be scheduled. This helps ensure that you are able to enjoy a beautiful, healthy smile for years to come. For every general dentistry problem, there is a solution for it.
Dental Solutions
In addition to routine checkups and cleanings, general dentistry includes:
- Dental Fillings – Fillings are used to repair structural damage to the teeth caused by decay, damage or trauma
- Resurfacing – Chipped or cracked teeth can be resurfaced by sculpting and shaping composite resin to fill in the damaged surface of the tooth.
- Crowns – Dental crowns are used to protect teeth with excessive decay. They are placed on top of the existing tooth to encase it in a protective material.
- Bridges – Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth with artificial replacements.
- Dental Implants – Implants are the most functionally effective way to replace missing teeth. Implants can be used to replace entire rows of teeth, or individual teeth.
- Dentures – Dentures and partial dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. Like implants, dentures can be used to replace any number of teeth.
- Root Canals – Infected tissue within the root chamber of the tooth is hollowed out and replaced with an antibacterial filling during a root canal. The tooth is then protected with a dental crown to help ensure further decay is stopped.
- Periodontal Treatment – Periodontal (gum disease) treatment can range from medicated mouthwash, tooth scaling, and more frequent cleanings, to surgery depending on the damage done to the gums.
- Snoring Treatments – Chronic snoring problems can be solved with a removable device that helps keep airways open while you are lying down.
Pediatric Dentistry
General dentistry includes pediatric dentistry. Children have different oral health needs than adults. Pediatric dentistry includes:
- Fluoride Treatments – Fluoride alters the molecular structure of the tooth making it more resistant to decay. Fluoride treatments are an important addition to general cleanings in children’s oral health.
- Dental Sealant Applications – Baby teeth are more grooved than adult teeth, and are therefore more susceptible to cavities, and decay. In order to protect these teeth, dental sealants can be applied to the surface of the tooth to block potentially harmful bacteria for entering.
- Checkups and Cleanings – Pediatric dentistry isn’t all treatments and applications. Dr. Folck and his staff are experienced in working with children, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for all of their dental needs.
